Private health and wellness facilities are setting Kenya apart as one of the key medical tourist destinations in Africa. Kenya is one of Africa’s top beneficiaries of cross-border travel for medical purposes.
“The medical tourism is marked by African nationals seeking high-end specialised medical services and primary health-care services, increasingly in other African countries,” the report titled Tourism for Transformative and Inclusive Growth states.
Kenya has stepped up medical tourism in the region by offering advanced medical facilities in the following referral hospitals:
i) Kenyatta National Hospital;
ii) Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital;
iii) National Spinal Injury Hospital;
iv) Mathari National Teaching & Referral Hospital; and
v) Kenyatta University Teaching and Referral Hospital.
